Automatic Expanding Trees in Explorer



If Friendly Trees (Expanding Trees) are enabled, clicking on a drive in the left pane of Explorer will automatically expand the tree. When a different drive is clicked, the tree on the previous drive will close and the tree of the newly selected drive will expand.



[Start] --> [Run] --> Type Regedit --> Press Enter --> then Navigate to following key.


Registry Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced


Modify/Create the Value Data Type(s) and Value Name(s) as detailed below.


Data Type: REG_DWORD [Dword Value]


Value Name: FriendlyTree


Setting for Value Data: [0 = Disabled / 1 = Enabled]
